Blogging has exploded into life these recent years and I for one never thought that I'd fall into the addictive world of blogging. I now run all my online businesses from ecommerce based to several online blogs on a self-hosted WordPress platform. In this article we're looking at the advantages of using WordPress.org and not the conventional free blog that you get from signing up with WordPress.com. And so we ask the question, what makes WordPress so popular, in particular amongst bloggers? Let's take a closer look.
1. It's Free!
One of the biggest reasons why so many bloggers choose WordPress is because of its creative limitless and the simple fact that it's completely free to download. Of course there is the exception of paying a small hosting fee to host your website but to be to frank that's just a matter of a few dollars each month. If you choose to monetize your blog you can easily make that back within a few months anyway.
2. It's Simple to Setup...
Getting a self-hosted WordPress blog setup is easy; WordPress themselves have a selected number of recommended webhosts which offers a one click installation service. All you have to do is pay for the hosting and hit install.
3. Limitless Creativity
With a self-hosted WordPress website you have access to an open source of thousands of various theme styles and plugins to make your blog unique. Your creative possibilities are absolute limitless.
4. Search Engine Optimisation Tools
Many of the premium WordPress themes available come complete with search engine optimisation marketing tools which are important for creating SEO friendly pages and articles, the ability to do this means that every post you create within your blog can be tweaked accordingly to rank well in the search engines.
5. Most widely used CMS System
WordPress is the worlds most widely used content management system available at bare minimum costs with the exception of Blogger. It boasts a host of online support available from both the community of users and WordPress.org themselves.
6. Socially Ready
What ever you choose to do with your WordPress blog, you'll be able to share it with all your friends, followers and readers through a wide range of social bookmarking options. Add your Facebook fan page and Twitter followers to your blog to add authority and encourage more readers to follow your posts.
7. Monetization
With your self-hosted WordPress blog you can choose to monetize it using various revenue sharing services such as Google AdSense & In-Text advertising. You may also want to sell advertising space on your blog at a later date should you wish to.
So there you have it, if these seven reasons isn't enough to convince you to start your own blog using a self-hosted platform from WordPress then I don't know what is.
